Transformation of the day: Alexis lost 65 pounds. With her children in mind, she decided to set an example and manage her weight gain to avoid future health problems. He shares how he changed his eating habits and worked hard in the gym to get results.
What was your motivation?
I’ve always been in great shape. However, I went through major depression for two years and gained 85 pounds. I looked at myself, I looked at my children, and I understood the importance of setting an example. Also, I didn’t want my excessive weight gain to lead to health problems.
How did you change your eating habits?
I gave up all sugar and junk food. I also started carb cycling.
What was your workout routine? How often do you exercise?
I started doing cardio 3-4 times a week. The weight started to come off, but after I added weight lifting, I noticed I was getting stronger and losing body fat.
I take bootcamp classes and am a member of Planet Fitness. My workouts always last at least 45 minutes.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 265 lbs
Current weight: 200 lbs
What is your height?
I am 5’5″.
When did the trip start?
In January 2022, I started by simply giving up all my excuses. I looked at my time at the gym as my “me” time, so I began to crave that “me” time… A place dedicated solely to me.
Is weight loss surgery part of your story?
No, I didn’t have any weight loss procedures.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Discipline is the biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way.
What advice would you share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice: One day or 1 day? I say find accountability partners, start slow, and set realistic goals.
